Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Seguin public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Rudeloff Road Through Truck Traffic Restriction
Councilmember Lievens reported eastbound Rudeloff drivers cutting through the Greenspoint Heights neighborhood to dodge the SH 46 light, and asked for a speed-limit study on the new 30-mph stretch.
Transportation Mobility Master Plan / Thoroughfare Plan adoption
Seguin is replacing its 2017 thoroughfare plan with the road portion of a new multimodal mobility plan. It guides where future roads go as the city grows, so developers must dedicate right-of-way and build their share — the city isn't planning to construct these roads itself. The trails portion is still being finished and will come back later.
Pedestrian and bicycle planning
An 80/20 TxDOT grant will build a 12-foot path along the SH 123 Bypass connecting the hospital and neighborhoods — a big deal for nursing home residents who can't safely walk to Walmart.
FM 78/Ruloff Road intersection safety
A longtime resident's email, read by Council Member Lievens, warns of increasing collisions at the FM 78 and Highway 1620/Ruloff intersection and calls for a four-way signal, with growing traffic expected from the NewQuest development.
Martindale-Strempel roadway improvements
Council awarded a $4.24 million construction contract — 30% under estimate — to fix the confusing dual-road arrangement, with about nine months of construction and a possible new signal at Strempel and SH 123.
